Make a very cheap flat/big screen TV

Over the weekend I happened to visit a friend of mine, who also happened to be a fellow student. On entering her house, I was almost knocked out by her 19 inch television. Of course, been a guy, we are always attracted to the electronics. On taking a closer look, I realized that the T.V. was manufactured by Dell, which further dumbfounded me, since I don't remember Dell ever manufacturing T.V.s.

On taking an even closer look, I realized that it was a normal Dell monitor , but on further inspection, it occurred to me that my friend was using a T.V. box, which is a device similar to(or at times also known as) an external T.V. card. The T.V. box has a VGA output which the monitor is then plugged in. It then occurred to me that we can achieve vision 2030 pretty soon and anyone can comfortably afford a 21 inch flat screen using the same combination.

With New HP flat screen TFT monitors ranging from Kshs. 11,200 for 17 inch monitors to 24,000 for 22 inch wide screens (source: www.chekelea.com ) and with a T.V. box costing about Kshs. 3,000(unverified estimate), you can basically have a flat screen 17 inch TFT T.V. for Kshs. 14,000.

Well beat that!

Visiting Watamu

Getting to Watamu: Flight to Malindi Airport. Jambojet flies here and so do other airlines from Wilson. You'll then need a Cab to Watamu (KSh. 1,700 to KSh. 2,000 - many apps are inaccurate) or matatu just outside the airport (KSh. 100) SGR to Mombasa, then shuttle to Watamu. Four years ago, precisely in 2015, I wrote about beer in Kenya in what has gone on to be my most popular post this year with more than 5,000 people reading it. It seems that there is a lot of interest in exploring beer in Kenya, which is understandable. The brewing sector has grown since then and we now have lots of options, which means it is time for another review. Back in 2015, Kenya had one major brewer - EABL/KBL, challenged by Keroche and Sierra which is more of a small volume craft brewer, and arguably Kenya’s first craft brewery. It had also been joined by Brew Bistro which mostly sells its malted stuff at its outlets in Nairobi and later by Sirville, a bar located at Galleria Mall. Sirville was later sold to Brew Bistro and converted to the latter for a while, before shutting down in what is alleged to be a tax dispute.
